After over 30 years shooting people as a photographer, and now working as a gaffer alongside DOPs like Scotty Jones, whose eye for warmth and humanity I genuinely respect, I’ve seen how that sensitivity sharpens my own lighting instinct.
Using super-soft unbleached muslin and tungsten china balls to let warmth sit naturally in skin tones — it’s simple, honest work. It doesn’t just flatter, it humanises. It takes me back to why I started. That collaboration lifts me. It’s never about scale or spectacle. It’s about shaping something that feels lived in, where light doesn’t impose itself on a face but sits with it.
