a little me
alittleme is a mirror—a way to see yourself without the filter of your own expectations. It strips away the clutter, presenting things in their simplest form so that even the most annoying truths can be approached without the need to box them in a serious manner.
She always sleeps with the light on when he’s not around
The idea began while shooting a nationwide campaign with my friend and Art Director, Conrad Welch. We built a small, aged set, peeling wallpaper, worn carpet and then dressed it with props, including two dolls my daughter had played with.
Placed casually at a little table, the dolls made us laugh. Through my camera’s distorted planes and altered focus, they seemed alive almost conveying stories without over-direction. Their ambiguity was powerful: the less they “performed,” the more they revealed.
Were they listening to each other or lost in their own worlds? Did they care for one another or stay wrapped in their own concerns? Were they connected, or quietly drifting apart?
Something’s are better off not said
They became a reflection of us and our relationships, our silences, our instincts. Sometimes, the deepest respect and love are shown not in words, but in the quiet space where we truly feel and listen.
